Nirbhaya, Asifa, Priyanka, and many more names,
I pray to God, nobody ever gets this kind of fame.
They fought the monsters who are invisible in the daylight,
Because behind the naïve faces their evil souls hide!
Those who have been proven guilty are still alive,
With open eyes, the government is snubbing women’s safety strive.
Strong voices and prompting posters marching in a bunch,
All with an only question “are we asking for too much?”
The crime against women ensues often in the night but in the afternoon too.
Disgusting is that the infants and seniors are even attacked by such flu!
Mighty politicians when stuck in such lawsuits, acquires an easy bail;
Get proofs destroyed, witnesses murdered, our legal system fails!
Lakhs of screams have been silenced under the dust in the court.
Around their daughters, terrified parents have started creating a fort.
Setting boundaries and limits for girls for their so-called security;
Lastly saying “boys will be boys” society is mocking own self’s sanity!
Skirt, salwar, or saree, nothing is a safe attire to wear.
Objectifying the ‘female human beings’ is still considered fair.
Outside the judiciary houses, gathered are victims of such crunch,
All with an only question “are we asking for too much?”
These days everyone is carrying a mask and trustworthy are none.
Human disguised beasts play with innocent lives for little fun.
Many times the victim herself is blamed for the calamity;
The police, the lawyers, the people offensively does her character scrutiny!
Today standing alone, frightened and helpless on a dark motionless road;
Every minuscule noise even that of dry leaf I am trying hard to decode.
And thinking about the worst case scenario, I start running back to my hutch,
With an only question “am I asking for too much?”
